By tradition the Kazaks are Sunni Muslims of the Hanafi school, and the Russians are Russian Orthodox.

According to a 2009 national census, 70.2% of Kazakhstan's population is Muslim, 20.6% Christian, 0.1% Buddhists, 0.2% others (mostly Jews), and 2.8% non-believers, while 0.5% chose to not to answer.

Sunni Islam (Sunni Muslims) 

Sunni Islam is the largest branch of Islam; People of the tradition of Muhammad and the community for short; in English, they are known as Sunni Muslims, Sunnis or Sunnites.

The Russian Orthodox Church 

The Russian Orthodox Church or, alternatively, the Moscow Patriarchate also known as the Orthodox Christian Church of Russia, is a body of Christians who constitute an autocephalous Eastern Orthodox Church under the jurisdiction of the Patriarch of Moscow, in communion with the other Eastern Orthodox Churches.

Buddhism 

Buddhism is a religion and philosophy encompassing a variety of traditions, beliefs and practices, largely based on teachings attributed to Siddhartha Gautama, commonly known as the Buddha.
